Calling mother

OMG - Bonnie & Clyde (my hummingbirds) are still around. There has been a strange high-pitch bird sound and it's the babies. They're out of the nest, yet still here! YES! They are in the trees near calling for mom. I see one and hear the other. Clyde drank out of the feeder today. I am so in heaven right now.

In this video, this is one of two baby hummingbirds that hatched & just left the nest recently. I call this one Clyde and he is making a high-pitched sound to call mother. She arrives and begins a feeding.

Empty Nest

I just wanted to let you all know that Bonnie left the nest on Sunday morning. Then Clyde got the courage and left this morning. The nest is empty. I hope to see them around, as the feeder is full & ready for them. Goodbye my little friends!

Anna's Hummingbird Babies growing strong!

Bonnie and Clyde growing and getting strong everyday.

These two Anna's Hummingbirds are growing out of the nest. Soon they will be off. I will miss them so.

Daily I have the very best view! I cannot believe how fast these Anna's can grow.

Named Bonnie & Clyde

Bonnie and Clyde

This was no Great Depression, however, what these little babies had to encounter has been extreme and ruthless. Our weather in So Cal has had tornados, thunderstorms, hail, rain, wind, alerts and more. I believe that a bid more rain is on it's way. Hang on my little Bonnie and Clyde!

Weeks old & Strong

This is a photograph of the baby hummingbirds in the nest near my porch. Today, SoCal had thunder storms that were absolutely crazy with alert of a tornado watch. It rained & hailed so hard that during work today, I almost could handle it knowing that these little guys we out in the harsh conditions. As much as I wanted to, I couldn't disrupt nature and to my great surprise their doing just fine, as these little guys were protected by their mother. I read that hummingbirds are one of the hardiest birds alive … indeed!

It's Official!

Its official … there are two very tiny hummingbirds that hatched (look closely at the pic). Not sure if it was days or weeks ago. They're still very small as I can only see their beaks. This morning I saw the female feeding her babies. She was very protective of them and flew very close to me, as she was trying to tell me to get lost ... which I did.

Hummingbird nesting

Here she is nesting and warming her eggs. I cannot see inside, however, cannot wait to see two little heads looking out soon. I would like to give her a name!

Hummingbird nest

Here is a hummingbird nest right outside my porch that was just made. The nest looks as though it's made of soft fibers, hairs and feathers and looks like a small deep cup. I just checked it again (01-03-10 at 10pm) and the female is snuggled deep inside with just her head out. Will keep on giving updates.
