Today while walking on the HB pier the weather was sunny yet gloomy as I tried out my Christmas gift, a Nikon D60, along with my ole P80. I was surprised by this confident pelican that was sitting on the guardrail. I think this is a California Brown.
Many people gathered, watched and took photographs. One guy even tried to give the bird a french fry. And I am glad that it did not eat it. Birds should not eat processed food folks!
This inquisitive and calm pelican just watched us. The eyes are so beautiful and innocent. The feathers looked so soft and lovely. And the bill was tough.
But what I loved most of all was the silver-gray feet! Wow, the shine and the texture was amazing. Good-bye my friend and I hope we meet again!
Great close up photo of pelicans. By coincidence, I am running a series of photos of pelicans in flight on my Daily Photo the last two days and tomorrow. I see pelicans up close on the pier at Dana Point when I visit there, but in Costa Rica we see lines of them flying by in formation up and down the beach, but they do not land where we are, so I do not see them up close.
