Bird Bath

This curious bird was excited and watching from afar, as I filled up the bird bath.
The well had been dry from some time now.
As soon as it overflowing with plenty of water, I sat down on the bench...waiting!
Waiting with anticipation ... the reward was this.

Oriole

This black and yellow bird was enjoying the view at the UCI Arboretum. I need help with the identification of this beautiful bird, as I am far from an expert ... I just love to photograph them!! The muted sky was tuned out by setting the highlight on high, so the rich colors of the bird would come through.

Walkway

This walkway
has lots
of stones.
Lots of trees.
Lots of calm.
Lots of lovliness.
Lots of appeal.
Lots of life.
Lots of character.
Lots of room.
Lots of wonder.
Lots of lines.
Lots of ...

Father's Day

Recognize this wonderful father, who remains nameless, however, you know who you are.

A father who carries pictures in his wallet, instead of money.

A father who listens, instead of yelling.

A father who loves us unconditionally, instead of settling.

A father who has a strong heart, instead of a weak love.

A wonderful father indeed!

Humble Pond

Lots of floating leaves fill this humble pond. It is full of life. I stand and observe all of the liveliness within and am grateful for the day. Time and again we need to look around, cease the moment, and take it all in...take what life has to offer each of us, even a small instant.

“Flowers” poem by Raymond A. Foss

Three flowers
bloom each day

Falsely fragile Queen Anne’s Lace
Clump of effervescent Daisies
A singular Black-eyed Susan

Wildflowers all
growing in the fields
of our hearts

Each her own
scent, shape, pose
Craning for light, food, attention

Willingly, lovingly tended
by the gardener,
the one who sowed the seed.

Clusters

This tiny plant is pre-bloom. All the clusters are so cute , I can't stand it! It's so ready to burst out with lovely bright pink flowers for all of us to enjoy. Bloom already....

Damaged

This stunning tree was damaged by the hands of someone who is namelesss.

Despite this, it's still so green and healthy.

Without exception, the timber tries to repair itself.

I stare at the deep openings and question who would do such a thing? I will go back often to monitor it's progress.
Good luck tree!

Venation

The pattern formation on this leaf is strong and bold.
There are many different paths to follow.

Universal Donor

Every minute of every day, someone needs blood. Today I contributed! They say that I’m a “universal donor” by having type O negative. Donating blood is just one great humanitarian way you could help your follow living being...find the hero in you by making a difference.

A little bug humor today....

Memorable quote from A Bug's Life (1998)
Fly: "Hey, cutie! Wanna pollinate with a real bug?"

Heron

I can hear the birds singing and the leaves crackling as lizards scatter off, while I wander along dirt paths in the sanctuary.
I was rewarded with plentiful views; however, this heron was bliss. This great one landed on the top of a pine tree. We watched each other for a while...

Where is the rain?

They keep saying that it's suppose to rain...and during my walk this morning with my hubby at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary, it was evident that rain is needed! I took this photograph being it is beautiful and sad all at the same time. This made me think about conservation, people, fauna & flora on this one earth. There are many small things that one can do to help, such as:
**Water wisely**Opt-out of junk mail**Recycle**
...you get the picture!
Let's all do our best to conserve.
Thanks!

My first blog post

First, I’d like to say hello, aloha, and ciao! Well...this is my new blog all about my adventures in photography. This new platform gives me a lot of creative freedom; a place to babble, share pictures and maybe even vent a little, which is a very positive thing. I am very excited about the blog : )

The blog name came from my childhood nickname. And YES, I was called SLINKY! It's funny, so many years I tried to get away from that name and now I'm back full-circle by using it again. Life is good!

So if you like what you see, please do leave me a comment and let me know...as I'd love to hear from you!!
